What is Acupuncture?

  • Acupuncture is to insert and manipulate the needles to the body, the needles will be inserted in certain locations known as “points”. 
  • Acu in latin word means needle. To make it simple Acu + Puncture involves in penetrating the skin with thin (as thin as hair) metallic needles. After inserting them into the points, needles are then manipulated by hand or by electrical stimulation machine. 

How Does it Work?

  • Acupuncture promote better circulation in energy and blood. In Traditional Chinese Medicine explanation a person with strong flow of blood and energy is consider to have a strong body.

Does Acupuncture hurt?

  • The pain that you experience is more painful. The only little pain that some patient might experience is the pain in puncturing the needle in the skin.
Note - Some patients do feel a sensation of heavy or tingling when the needle is inserted and manipulated.  This is just a  normal and is essential in Chinese Acupuncture. But some patient misunderstand the feeling as pain.

Is Acupuncture safe?  What about the risks of infectious diseases?

  • In the hands of a properly trained practitioner, acupuncture is generally safe.  
  • With disposable needle infectious diseases is not a problem.

Are there contraindications for Acupuncture?

  • People who is hungry or very full.
  • People who has Hemophiliacs

How long is an Acupuncture session?

  • An acupuncture session would last about 30 to 60 minutes.
  •  

When will the Acupuncture result be seen?

  • Acupuncture is very dynamic. In some cases, effects can be seen even during the treatment. In other cases, it can take 2 to 3 sessions to notice a tangible effect.
